22 Februari 2011 | Costa Rica, Tamarindo

It´s been a while again, I know it takes me way to long every time but it´s not easy to find time for writing stories. But here it goes.

So what have I been doing since my stay in Costa Rica? Well a lot!

I will try to give a small sumary of the last weeks here.

So my second week:
I had a picnic on the beach, just chilling and relaxing with tomato saus, bread and chips.
In the weekend I went to a big music festival with some EF students. Apparantly it were well know artists in Latin Amerika, I didn´t know any of them.

Third week:
I tried surfing and it went pretty good. I managed to stand up quite a couple of times and at one point I accidentally took a wave of about 3-4 meters high and I managed to keep standing which was really sweet =D. In the weekend I went to Santa Cruz but this time to look a bit more at the city and do some shopping, well not for me but for the girls I was with. That evening I went to Waka festival, which was another festival with toro´s but this time really close to where I live and some of the students of EF went in the arena to run away for the bull. Afterwards we danced a bit and celbrated someone birthday.
On Sunday I went with 2 people to a beach close to Tamarindo, playa Langosta. This is a really nice beach since there aren´t to many people there and there are lots of shells there.

Forth week:
Wednesday it was the birthday of one of my best friends here in Costa Rica, so we celbrated it with a dinner with about 16 people I believe and afterwards we had a great party. And in the evening we went swimming in the ocean, which was fun and totally not cold xD. In the weekend I went again to a festival with toro´s and on sunday I went surfing the whole day together with Julia, but the waves weren´t to great so we spent more time on our boards laying in the sun then actually surfing but later that day some waves started to come so we still could surf a bit.

Fifth week:
Of course lots of party again during the week. But in the weekend we went to Nicaragua. We left on Friday and it took us about 7-8 hours to get to our location since we had to spent a lot of time at the border unfortunately. But when we finally got there we had a dinner with all the 30 people who were on the tour which was fun and really cheap, for 16 dollars I had an apetiyer, dinner and 3 beers.
On Saturday we had a tour through the city with horse and wagon. Afterwards we went to a cigar factory and I made my own cigar. Then we walked a bit more through the city visited some chruches. In the afternoon we had a boat tour at a lake which contained more then 360 islands big enough to build houses on them, therefore we saw some really sweet houses. And we got a monkey on board of our boat, who was immediately going for the food on the boat. Then we did a small race with the other boats and then returned again.
On Sunday was the day to leave again but before we went home we first stopped by at a vulcano. You could look into the crater and you could see the smoke comming out. Then we walked upto a higher point and there was an amazing view over a big valley.

Sixth week:
I went to playa pirata with 4 friends. One of the most beautiful beaches I´ve seen up to now. There were except for us only 12 people more, which we could hardly see because they were sitting somewhere else. But except from the beach being nice and quite the see there was really clear and nice green-blue. And when we made a little walk we passed about 3 or 4 different types of beaches, different sand, different color.
On Friday evening I organised a bonfire at the beach and it was perfect after some stressing of getting the wood to the beach. But I got the fire started with full moon and people were playing the guitar and singing. So a perfect night ;-).
Then in the weekend we went to another beach, playa con shells, which as the name sugests is know about the shells on the beach, but unfortunately this was only a really small part and it was to crowded there, so we deceided to sit further away where it was more quitely. But it was still a nice beach, again clear water, you could see up to about 2.5 meters deep.
And Sunday I spent another day at the beach, with the intention of going surfing but I ended up just chilling with Julia.
Yesterday I tried out the surfboard I bought together with Lisan and it went really good, I managed to keep my balance and I got some nice waves.
Today I´m going on an excursion with the AY students (students who are here for 5 or more months), were going to see a national park which is supossed to be really nice, so I will see.

And ofcourse I have to give an update about my Spanish as well ;-).
Well it goes pretty well actually. I can have full converstations with my host familly now, more then just saying where I´m going or where I went. I had converstations about religion, about the army, police and gun use in Costa Rica, the live in Costa Rica and more. So I´m getting there. Only have a bit of troubles with the past, especialy the iregular verbs, and my vocabulary still has to develop, but I think that come automatically after the verbs.

If people want to read some Spanish I learned, let me know and then next time I will write a little piece in Spanish (with the translation afterwards).

Pura vida y hasta luego.

Besitos para todos.

    ¡Hola!
